About Us
After noticing that our son Harry (who was 8 at the time) had become more and more interested in learning and didn’t get enough time at school to really delve into the subjects that interested him, we tried Flexischooling – having Harry at home one day a week and school the other four.
Then, over the summer holidays, I started to look into homeschooling and, in particular, unschooling, and we decided that was the way forward for us. Harry didn’t go back to school that September. Two years on, we’ve never looked back.
We now home educate our second son, Joe (5) too. Although our method of home ed is ‘unschooling’ so we don’t do any formal education at all.
This blog is a place for us to share our experiences and also to chat to other home educators about what they do and why they do it.
Delighted is the feeling when I stumbled upon this wonderful blog. My daughter does online schooling through a local school district but has a more individualize school plan according to her strengths and weaknesses. We love it and will most likely never go back to traditional
school. We chose this avenue because she in an older grade and we were not sure if we could teach her the subjects (math and science) at the level needed to obtain acceptance in college or job.
I look forward to following any suggestions are always welcome. My gratitude is yours, Allie
